Welcome to Parallel to Shore

Welcome to my blog, Parallel to Shore. I’m excited that you found me in the vast yet highly connected sea of the internet.

This blog sprouted from inspiration to build something, thanks to a book club I joined almost two years ago. Reading the first group book ignited a curiosity in me to seek out and read more books, which got me thinking about writing and working on something of my own.

I will be sharing my love of the ocean and riding waves as experienced through surfing. I am posting my reading list to help me remember what I’ve read, and to encourage feedback from others on what they are reading or recommend.  And I will also be sharing my film photography, which I am slowly learning as I go.

My surfing experience has been in the works for over 30 years now, and continues to motivate and inspire me daily. While reading and film photography are newer hobbies of mine, I’ve found them to be great sources of inspiration and motivation. They keep my mind active and serve as reminders to slow down and appreciate a good story or interesting light and composition. 

Thank you for stopping by and hanging out. I hope to energize you to learn something new, stay motivated, and try new things. I’ve found that escaping the current of routine has been a great way to grow and not get stuck treading water.
